About This Place

Located in the vibrant heart of San Francisco at 1338 Franklin St, Cafe Pacific Plaza is a must-visit gem for lovers of Korean cuisine and comforting breakfast fare. This cozy, unpretentious spot masterfully blends the warmth of a local café with the lively flavors of Korean cooking, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels both fresh and familiar.

The menu at Cafe Pacific Plaza is a delightful journey through rich, savory tastes and fresh ingredients. Signature dishes like the Bibimbap — a colorful bowl of assorted steamed vegetables, tender beef, and a perfectly cooked egg atop fragrant rice — truly embody the soul of Korean cuisine here, offering a balance of textures and bold flavors that awaken your palate with every bite. For those looking for a hearty yet healthy option, the Grilled Chicken Salad provides freshness and satisfying protein, while the Chicken and Beef Combo Bento Box and Beef Bulgogi Bento Box offer generous, flavor-packed portions perfect for lunch or dinner.

Fans of classic comfort food won’t be disappointed either. The grilled sandwiches — from the simple, melty Grilled Cheese ($6.95) to the savory and smoky Reuben ($9.25) — deliver mouthwatering warmth with every toasted bite. If you crave something a bit more adventurous, their variety of udon bowls, including options like Shrimp Udon or Veggie Tofu Udon, serve up rich, comforting broths with tender noodles that feel like a soothing hug on a chilly San Francisco day.

One standout favorite among regulars is the Hawaiian Box Spam & Egg, a flavorful fusion dish that's as hearty as it is nostalgic, perfect for breakfast lovers wanting a taste of the islands. Complementing this, the California Roll and Spicy Pork Bowl add layers of fresh and fiery flavors that keep diners coming back for more.

The dining vibe here is warm and welcoming, with a small, neighborhood-joint feel where friendliness flows as freely as great food. Staff are noted for their kindness and attentiveness, creating a community feel that goes beyond just a meal. As Brian Felix observes, it’s “a small joint with great taste and great vibes,” while Madeline Sabroe’s praise for “great quality food for a reasonable price” captures the accessible indulgence this spot offers.

Whether you’re stopping in early for a hot coffee and a fresh muffin, settling in for a flavorful bento box lunch, or seeking a delicious, no-fuss dinner, Cafe Pacific Plaza delivers authenticity and flavor with every dish. This well-kept local secret serves up the kind of meals that linger in memory long after the last bite, making it a beloved destination for locals and savvy visitors alike.

With a menu that satisfies cravings for both classic Korean dishes and comforting café staples, paired with genuinely warm service, Cafe Pacific Plaza perfectly encapsulates the spirit of San Francisco’s diverse and dynamic food scene. It’s a place where every dish feels like a personal invitation to relax, savor, and enjoy.

Super yum sushi-to-go, fresh at 10:45am, this was a lovely surprise for a late breakfast/early lunch when I just stopped in to warm up with a coffee. Kimbap on Tuesdays and Thursdays can’t wait to try that!!! Also they have what looks like a great quick-serve menu of Korean kimbap shop staples like dolsot bibimbap and galbi set menus. Great surprise!!! Musubi looked awesome too. Coffee was hot, fresh and perfect strength. Bonus hazelnut flavored and decaf also. Nice neighbourhood vibe, tables chatting to each other about sports and local news, owners seemed super cool. Good hot breakfast menu. What a lovely find on my emergency de-icing stop in!!! Will be back!!

Ordered the short rib (pork) bento box. Tasty, flavorful bento. Generous portion making it a steal for the price. Ordered ahead for my 30 minute lunch break. Food was hot and ready! I will be returning.

This place is the epitome of comfort food. Located where all the medical offices seem to be - this is an unassuming mom and pop cafe with no frills but has warm and friendly energy. I always order off the Korean menu and the dolsot bibimbop is absolutely delicious and in the same leagues as your typical Korean restaurant. This is definitely a local's joint and I look forward to coming here after my doctor's visits.
